If you are employed by a non-Norwegian institution during your stay abroad you will lose membership of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme. You will therefore have no coverage from Norway and must check which entitlements you will have in your host country.
It is also a good idea to consider your needs for private insurance. Since you will not be a member of the National Insurance Scheme it may be difficult to take out insurance with a Norwegian insurance company. You should therefore investigate the options in your host country. Also make sure to check whether any policies you currently have in Norway will be valid there.
