Assistant/Asscociate professor in archival science

Department of Archivistics, Library and Information Science has available a tenured position as assistant or associate professor in archival science. The position will be related mainly to an online one-year further education programme in archival science starting up in the autumn semester of 2020, but lecturing and supervising at the department's bachelor’s programme in archival science is also included in the job description.

Main duties of the position

  • lecture and supervise in central subjects within archival science, primarily in the online one-year further education programme
  • development of new courses and study programs in collaboration with colleagues
  • contribute to the department’s research and development activities

Qualifications and requirements

You must have:

  • relevant academic education at master’s or doctoral level
  • good knowledge of Norwegian and international archival theory and methodology
  • good knowledge of Norwegian public administration and Norwegian archives work
  • documented knowledge of digital archiving and preservation
  • good oral and written presentation skills in a Scandinavian language and English

Presence at the workplace is expected.

You should have:

  • experience from and interest in pedagogical development and online education
  • research within the field

Candidates who have no relevant qualifications in pedagogy at the time of appointment must commit themselves to complete OsloMet’s programme for basic pedagogical competence (15 ECTS credits) within two years.

The university will test pedagogical skills in connection with a personal interview.

Expert evaluation

An expert committee may assess the applicants. You must upload the following documents together with your application by the final date for applications:

  • CV, references and all pages of certificates/diplomas. The certificates/diplomas must include ECTS grades (A–F). Foreign diplomas must be translated into English by the degree-conferring institution. Education taken abroad should preferably be recognised in advance by NOKUT, and a confirmed copy of the letter of recognition should be enclosed.
  • A list of your publications
  • Up to 10 academic documents

You must upload all of these documents. Original documents and valid passport must be presented if you are invited for an interview. OsloMet performs document inspections in order to give you as a candidate a proper evaluation and ensure fair competition.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for Norwegian state employees. For the position of Assistant professor (position code 1009), the salary is NOK 449 400-586 500 annually. For the position of Associate professor (position code 1011), the salary is NOK 524 200-682 200 annually. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well qualified applicants. . Law deducts 2% of the salary to the State Pension Fund.
