Offer Description

Expertise in biology and physiology of stress and reproduction in fish, qualification for animal experimentation, measurement of histological, physiological and molecular indicators, skills for data analysis and publication

As part of a project funded by the Grand Est region in France, a study will be conducted to assess the effects of ongoing climate change (thermal regime of water bodies such as polyculture ponds) on species of major fish farming interest in pond polyculture (Cypriniforms). The effects will be assessed on broodstock (males and females) of several fish species (early and late spring spawners) over an annual production cycle. Considering the thermal regimes observed in local ponds in recent years and the forecasts announced (IPCC), the effects of different regimes will be applied in controlled environments (Experimental Aquaculture Platform – EAP of the University of Lorraine). The effects of thermal kinetics will be studied mainly in terms of fish reproductive performance and the level of stress generated in fish. Particular attention will be paid to measuring zootechnical, histological, physiological and molecular indicators that characterize the quality of gonadal development and reproductive performance. At the end of this study, the consequences for the future management of polyculture ponds will be discussed. The results will be presented to professionals (fish farmers) and published in scientific journals.
