Offer Description

This PhD project focuses on the development of advanced antenna technologies for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) systems. The research will investigate passive and active antenna arrays operating in centimeter- and millimeter-wave bands, including beam-steering techniques, full-duplex operation, and self-interference mitigation.

The project will explore innovative solutions using metasurfaces, multilayer structures, and advanced feeding architectures (including gap-waveguide technology) to maximize isolation, efficiency, and compactness. The successful candidate will engage in antenna design, electromagnetic modeling, array integration, and experimental validation to enable simultaneous communication and sensing in next-generation wireless systems.

The candidate will join the Radio Technologies and Applications research group at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, which conducts internationally recognized research in antennas, metasurfaces, and microwave technologies for advanced communication and sensing systems. The PhD will be supervised by Prof. Eva Rajo-Iglesias.

The selected candidate must meet the admission requirements and be formally admitted to a PhD program at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid by the time the employment contract is signed.
