Offer Description

Work Plan: The work plan consists of the following:
i) Collection of polychaete annelids on the Portuguese mainland coast and their maintenance in captivity.
ii) Collection of biological samples of polychaetes and extraction of DNA/RNA.
iii) Analysis of sequences and expression of genes of interest.
iv) Determination of the physiological and pathological condition of the target organisms. The remaining members of the jury agreed with the president's proposed work plan.

Fellowship duration: The fellowship will last for will last for 3 months, starting in May 2026. The scholarship contract may eventually be renewed within the term of the project.

Application deadline and form of application submission: The call is open from the 23/03/2026 to 06/04/2026.

Documentation to be provided in the application: Applications must be formalized by sending the following documents:
i) Detailed Curriculum Vitae;
ii) Motivation letter;
iii) Most relevant research document (e.g. thesis, report, article or poster);

iv) Documents proving the academic degrees obtained and their classification* (in the application phase may be replaced by a declaration of honour as stated in point no. 2).
v) Declaration of honour attesting to the commitment to enroll in a non-degree course, if he/she is selected for the award of a scholarship and accepts the award of the same and other supporting documents considered relevant for the evaluation of the experience.

Note 1: For academic degrees conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it is mandatory to present the record of recognition of the academic degree and the conversion of the final classification to the Portuguese scale (process regulated by Decree-Law No. 341/2007, of 12 October), or alternatively, to obtain equivalence/recognition of academic degrees (process regulated by Decree-Law No. 283/83). of June 21).

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the fellowship corresponds to € 1.040,98 having as reference the table of values of the fellowship awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal, with payment made monthly by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection criteria: The selection methods to be used and their weighting will be as follows:
a. Curriculum evaluation - 40%;
b. Experience in the area of research - 40%.
c. Interview - 20%

Final grade=40%×A+40%×B+20%xC

In case of a tie, the jury will interview the candidates. In this case, the evaluation criteria and respective selection methods will be:
A. Curriculum evaluation - 35%;
B. Experience in the research area - 35%.
C. Motivation letter - 10%
D. Interview - 20%

Final grade=35%×A+35%×B+10%xC+20%xD

All applications will be evaluated on a scale of 0 to 20 values.

Candidates who do not obtain a minimum grade of 15 points, as a result of the jury's evaluation according to the selection criteria, will not be hired.

Form of advertising/notification of results: The evaluation results proposed by the juri will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list.
After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address coord1@novaidfct.pt. In the notification of the candidates, a reserve list is sent according to the final ranking list, which may be used in case of withdrawal of the candidate ranked first, reserving to NOVA.id.FCT the right to call the next candidate from the reserve list, and so on, until the vacancy is filled.
