Offer Description
This call is to recruit a scientific manager and assistant who will support the coordination and implementation of research projects, with a focus on software projects for the social sciences and projects involving IT infrastructure for scientific projects. In addition to the tasks described below, this role includes personal assistantship duties, such as organising business travel and handling related administrative tasks.
We are a research group focused on social sciences from a quantitative and computational perspective. We love science! And would like to invite candidates who share our passion for knowledge.
Tasks:
- Management of research projects (project planning and time management)
- Administrative tasks
- Support with writing reports
- Support with the preparation of databases
- Support with the submission of academic articles to peer-reviewed journals
- Support with the creation of Open Science data and code repositories
- Managing scientific communication content

Required qualifications for candidate
- Experience in management of software projects, IT infrastructure projects or research projects are a plus.
- Other project management experience is an asset if relevant to the position. Please specify in the motivation letter.
- The position is in English language, fluency in written and oral English language is a requirement.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Familiarity with LaTex (Overleaf) or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with R statistical software or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of MS Office suite.
- A general ability and affinity to understanding computer tools and programs.
- Long-term interest in science and research.

Additional Information
Type of contract: Indefinite according to the provisions of article 23 bis of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation. The contract is tied to the estimated tasks required for the project, which is expected to run until 30 November 2026, with the option for extension.
This position is initially offered on a part-time basis (25h/week), with the potential to transition to full-time employment based on project requirements and performance. The ideal start date is as soon as possible.
The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish public health and social security system, as well as financial support for the participation in project-relevant meetings.
The candidate will become a member of the Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology (RESCM).
This is a hybrid position, combining remote work with on-site presence at UPF in Barcelona. The role offers flexible working hours, subject to agreement with the Principal Investigator.
Contract category and level: PSR 3 U
The approximate gross salary is: 21,414€ (for 25h/week)
