Offer Description
We are looking to hire the equivalent of 3 to 3.5 fte temporary Lecturers (‘Docenten’) to reinforce our lecturers team in contributing to the teaching programmes in International Relations and International Organisation (IRIO).
These appointments are teaching-only positions that are strictly temporary. You are expected to teach in the first semester of the academic year 2026-27 (Sep 2026 – Feb 2027). There may be some room for negotiating full-time/part-time employment options.
What are you going to do?
- You will be teaching in the IRIO programmes, mostly BA-level seminars/tutorials on specialised subjects in the field of International Relations. These may include courses such as Theory of International Relations, Studying International Politics as a Social Science, Policy and Governance, Introduction to International Relations, Economics as Public Policy and others.
- You will deliver the seminars/tutorials in line with the course guide and instructions of the course coordinators.
- You will guide students and provide feedback.
- You will grade and provide feedback on assignments and/or exams.
- You will carry out any other tasks assigned by the course convenors and coordinate practical matters with them.

Requirements
- You have a background in International Relations, preferably holding a PhD in this or a related field.
- You have the appropriate skills and knowledge to teach in the field of International Relations and to work with BA students.
- You are an inspired and engaging teacher.
- You have experience teaching or supervising students.
- You have a good command of spoken and written English.
- You are a team player with good communication skills.
- You have strong organisational skills, committed to delivering by the deadlines.
- You are able to work in an international, diverse environment.
Additional Information
What can you expect from us?
- 232 vacation hours per year, based on a 38-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). You can also work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours. For example, with a 40-hour workweek, you save 96 extra free hours, and with a 36-hour workweek, you lose 96 hours.
- End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.
