Offer Description
Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (Łukasiewicz-IMiF) conducts the research and development in the field of advanced microelectronic and photonic technologies. It has unique technological laboratories and intellectual capital that enable it to undertake the scientific work and run the projects aimed at increasing the innovation of Polish enterprises, simultaneously creating a high-tech knowledge environment in the field of innovative materials’ production along with the technology and design of microelectronics and photonic devices, gallium nitride technology, LTCC technology, printed electronics and medical and environmental sensors. Łukasiewicz–IMiF runs numerous projects financed from domestic and foreign funds annually, the goals of which are to increase the innovation of the Polish economy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and perform post‑growth processing of compound semiconductor structures based on AIII‑BV materials, including magnetron and/or thermal deposition of metallic layers and the formation of metallic interconnects.
- Prepare semiconductor structures for individual processing steps, e.g. preparing photolithography patterns for metal layer deposition.
- Contribute to the optimization of selected processing steps by participating in the characterization of semiconductor structures before and after processing and analysing the results in terms of the quality of the respective process stage.
- Continuously improve technological procedures related to the assigned processing steps and troubleshoot process‑ and equipment‑related issues.
- Provide technical stewardship of key processing equipment and related peripheral and auxiliary systems.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, scientific publications and patent applications.
- Participate in conferences, workshops and trade fairs as a subject‑matter expert in photonic technologies.
- Take part in the acquisition and implementation of R&D and commercial projects, including projects carried out with industrial partners.
- Collaborate effectively within the research group and across the Institute.

Master’s degree or equivalent, or higher education combined with at least one year of experience in the R&D sector.
- Preferred background in physics, materials engineering, electronics, chemistry, nanotechnology or related fields, with hands‑on experience in working with technological equipment, e.g. vacuum systems for metallic or dielectric thin‑film deposition.
- Good knowledge of the physico‑chemistry of semiconductor materials, metallic and dielectric layers, as well as of relevant characterization techniques.
- Authorship or co‑authorship of at least one publication in a scientific journal listed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW, score < 140 points).
- Authorship or co‑authorship of at least one contribution (poster, short communication, talk or invited lecture) presented at an international scientific or industry conference.
- Documented participation in at least one research and development project or implementation‑oriented project related to the commercialization of research results, funded from institutional subsidies, grants, commissioned work or external (national or international) sources.
- Good command of English (minimum level B1).
- Readiness to take on challenges, a high degree of autonomy and consistency in action, and strong teamwork skills.
