Offer Description

KEY WORDS: drug design, high-throughput screening, enzyme inhibitors, macromolecular structure

Principal Investigator: dr hab. Magdalena Łuczak, prof. ICHB PAN

a position in the Department of Structural Biology of Eukaryotes led by dr hab. Miłosz Ruszkowski, prof. ICHB PAN

Research topic: Our research aims to develop biologically active molecules based on the results of high-throughput screening methods, structural studies, molecular modeling, as well as activity optimization and in vitro and in cellulo testing.

We focus on the identification and validation of new biological targets, the design and optimization of compounds with therapeutic potential, and understanding the mechanisms of their action at the molecular and cellular levels. In our studies, we employ modern biophysical approaches and integrate experimental and computational data to more effectively transition from molecule discovery to functional characterization.

We have access to advanced research infrastructure that enables in vitro, cellular, and in silico studies, allowing for a comprehensive approach to the design and evaluation of drug candidates.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, biochemists, structural biologists, and other specialists, creating excellent conditions for developing innovative scientific solutions in the areas of molecular biology, drug chemistry, and translational medicine.

We offer a position as an Assistant Professor (postdoc), partially funded under the project: FENG.02.04-IP.04-0010/24-00 titled “POL-OPENSCREEN – Polish Infrastructure Platform for Chemical Biology Screening.” The Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (ICHB PAS) is one of the leading research institutions in Poland, conducting scientific activities in the fields of chemistry, molecular biology, and biomedicine. The Institute provides access to state-of-the-art research equipment.

I. Requirements for the candidates:

  1. PhD degree in chemistry or a related discipline.
  2. Experience in experimental methods of molecular biology.
  3. Experience working with human cell lines.
  4. Experience in high-throughput screening studies.
  5. A well-documented research track record demonstrated by scientific publications.
  6. Ability to make responsible decisions independently and work effectively as part of a team.
  7. Proficiency in English sufficient for effective communication.
