Requirements for candidates:
Candidates who meet the requirements specified in Articles 113 and 116 of the Act on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and § 50(8) of the KUE Statutes, i.e. meet the following eligibility criteria:
- hold at least a master's degree, master's degree in engineering or equivalent, and
- have a predisposition for conducting research and are prepared for teaching work.
Additional mandatory requirements include:
- a completed master’s degree in law, with specialized training in intellectual property law and new technologies,
- knowledge of issues related to industrial property law, copyright law, and technology law,
- research interests, with a particular focus on issues related to intellectual property law,
- very good spoken and written English, including legal English; for foreign nationals, a good command of spoken and written Polish, i.e., sufficient to teach classes,
- in the event of employment, submission of an employee's statement on conducting scientific activity in the discipline of law,
- in the event of employment, submission of an employee's statement on consent to be included among employees conducting scientific activity (the so-called N number) at the KUE,
- compliance with the requirements of Article 21 of the Act of 13 May 2016 on counteracting threats of sexual crime and protecting minors (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2026, item 110, as amended).
The following will be regarded as additional strengths/advantages:
- experience in teaching courses (including workshops or seminars) in the field of intellectual property law,
- publications in the field of intellectual property law and new technology law,
- participation in specialized educational and research programs (e.g., EUIPO, EPO, WIPO programs),
- preparation of a doctoral dissertation in the field of legal sciences, particularly in the area of intellectual property law,
- practical experience gained outside the higher education sector, including providing legal services to business entities or consulting in the field of intellectual property law and new technology law,
- activity in academic societies, participation in conferences, seminars, or other events promoting science and legal knowledge.

When assessing candidates for academic teachers, the Krakow University of Economics respects the basic of the principles of open, transparent and merit-based recruitment (Open, Transparent and Merit-based Recruitment of Researcher – OTM-R).
The course of the selection process:
- Formal evaluation of the submitted documents.
- Selection of candidates who meet the formal requirements as described in the competition announcement, invitation to the second stage – interviews with the Competition Committee.
- Decision of the Competition Committee whether to recommend a candidate. If none of the candidates meet the requirements for employment in a given position, the Committee applies to the Rector to close the competition.
- The final decision regarding the hiring of the recommended candidate is made by the Rector. The University reserves the right to declare the competition inconclusive.
- Announcement of the competition results in the University BIP bulletin and in the Minister’s BIP bulletin.
- All candidates will be notified when the recruitment process is complete.

Mandatory documents required:
- personal application and CV (containing, among others, a list and description of teaching, scientific and organizational experience and achievements along with supporting documents),
- personal data questionnaire for the person applying for the job*,
- copy of a diploma of completion/obtaining higher education qualification (in the case of diplomas drawn up in a language other than Polish, also a certified translation of the document into Polish and (if applicable) a certificate of equivalence with the Polish counterpart of the diploma/professional title obtained abroad,
- statement or copy of a certificate confirming proficiency of the English language at the very good level (including legal English), and for foreign nationals, also a declaration or copy of a certificate confirming good command of the Polish language,
- a declaration that upon commencement of employment, the Krakow University of Economics will be the primary place of work*,
- a declaration of fulfilment of the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science and a declaration of lack of relationship based on Article 118 of the Law on Higher Education and Science*,
- consent to the processing of personal data during the recruitment process,
- a declaration by the candidate regarding the declaration/authorization to be included among the employees conducting research activities (the so-called N number) and regarding the declaration of the field and scientific discipline that he/she will represent in the event of his/her employment at the KUE*,
- before concluding an employment contract, the selected candidate will be required to submit a certificate from the National Criminal Register.
In the case of documents being originally drawn up in a language other than Polish, a translation of these documents into Polish must be attached.

Written information on the possibilities of recognizing a foreign diploma in Poland for the purpose of taking up employment can be obtained from NAWA: from the KWALIFIKATOR system or by submitting an application for its issuance to NAWA. Confirmation of having higher education qualification at a specific level of studies is not tantamount to having a Polish professional title (master’s degree, engineer, bachelor’s degree, etc.). A diploma of completion of higher education qualification or a professional title obtained abroad may be recognized as equivalent to a Polish counterpart on the basis of an international agreement, and in the absence thereof - through nostrification.
