Offer Description
The Translational Synthetic Biology group led by Dr. Marc Güell at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) – and the spin-off Synflora – is seeking a Research Technician to support the team within the EU-funded SkinEngineering project.
SkinEngineering aims to develop advanced engineered skin-microbiome biotherapeutics. The recruited person will focus on:
- Microbial culturing and bacterial growth assays.
- Molecular biology: PCR, DNA assembly/cloning, bacterial transformation and construct verification.
- Support in in vitro and in vivo experiments and preparation of experimental material.
- Experimental data analysis, documentation and protocol optimization.
- General laboratory organization and support of reproducible workflows.

Specific Requirements
Information on the minimum requirements:
- High school diploma or professional training (FP2).
- Hands-on experience in experimental life sciences, preferably microbiology, molecular biology or synthetic biology.
- Experience with PCR and cloning/DNA assembly; bacterial transformation and growth assays are highly valued.
- Fluent English (spoken and written); Spanish or Catalan is a plus.
Other valued qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Genomics, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular/Cellular Biology or similar.
- Ongoing or completed Master’s training in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, Genomics or a related discipline.
- Experience with recombinant systems/model organisms, experimental troubleshooting and data analysis.
- Microscopy experience is counted positively.

Benefits
Expected remuneration: annual gross salary according to salary tables (currently 19.090,30€).

Selection criteria:
- Academic background: 0-20 points.
- Professional experience/Appropriateness to the proposed profile: 0-60 points.
- Other achievements: 0-20 points.
Minimum score to pass the selection process: 80 points.
