The dean of the Faculty of Archaeology, with the consent of the Rector of the University of Warsaw, announces a competition for the position of assistant professor – post-doc (f/m) in the project NCN OPUS-30 (LAP) Return to Abu Mena: Pilgrims, Residents and Everyday Life in a Late Antique City.

1. Meeting the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2024, item 1571, as amended).
2. A PhD in Archaeology. The doctoral degree must have been obtained no earlier than January 1, 2015, from an institution other than the University of Warsaw, or from the University of Warsaw provided that the candidate has completed a continuous and documented 10-month postdoctoral fellowship abroad (in accordance with the rules specified in the NCN regulations on eligible costs in research projects).
3. Documented academic/scientific achievements in Mediterranean archaeology, with a particular focus on Egypt.
4. Documented experience in archaeological fieldwork.
5. Proficiency in archaeological documentation methods.
6. Experience in working with databases, inventories, and catalogues of archaeological finds.
7. Excellent command of spoken and written English.
1. Knowledge of the key issues and specifics of research on Christian Egypt.
2. Experience working in interdisciplinary research teams.
If hired, we expect the University of Warsaw to be the only workplace for the successful candidate.
Additional Information
The competition consists of the following stages:
- Stage I - formal evaluation of documents,
- Stage II - substantive evaluation on the basis of submitted documents,
- Stage III - interview with selected candidates:
- presentation of the scientific track record
- answering potential questions from the committee within the scope of this call for applications
- Stage IV - final evaluation of competence, experience and scientific achievements,
- Stage V - adjudication of the competition and announcement of results.
