Offer Description

https://www.ifj.edu.pl/en/career/recruitment-procedures.php

  1. Keywords:

    Quantum Field Theory, Monte Carlo Methods, Precision predictions for accelerator experiments

  2. Description:

    A person employed as an Adiunkt for a fixed term (up to 33 months) at the Department of Particle Physics – NZ42 at the Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences (IFJ PAN) will be obliged to participate in work on research topics and projects implemented and planned for the upcoming period in the NZ42 Department.

    The basic tasks of the employed person will include:

    - Work on the third-order matrix elements for fermion pair production processes in e+e- collisions and its preparation in a form suited for implementation in simulation programs;

    - Work on extending predictions to include new physics effects;

    - Software development and maintenance (user support);

    - Work on other project components necessary for the team's operations;

    - Preparation of publications and conference presentations;

    - Dissemination of research results through publications in leading scientific journals and presentations at seminars and conferences, including international ones;

    - Applying for external research funding.

    The core idea of the project is participation in, and ultimately independent management of, phenomenological projects such as KKMC for fermion pair production in e+e− collisions, PHOTOS for radiative corrections in particle or resonance decays, and TAUOLA for tau lepton decays. The objective is to provide an introduction to this broad field, acquire relevant skills to enable continued work in subsequent years, and participate in the development of phenomenological tools for LHC, FCC, and Belle experiments. This will be combined with involvement in ongoing research and publication activities. The specified programs are widely used by these collaborations as primary tools in their respective domains.

    The research will be theoretical and computational in nature, involving software development, testing, and application.
