Outline

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the top life sciences research institutions in the world with sites in Grenoble, France; Heidelberg and Hamburg, Germany; Hinxton, UK; Rome, Italy; and Barcelona, Spain. The institute hosts an interdisciplinary Postdoctoral fellowship programme: the EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdoc Fellowship Programme - Exploring Life in Context (EIPOD-LinC).

What is funded

Applicants are invited to design an interdisciplinary research project of their choice under the overarching theme of exploring life in context. Each project will have one scientific supervisor from EMBL who will officially host the EIPOD and one or more partners. Partners can come from EMBL or a lab in an EMBL Member State, Prospect Member State or Associate Member State (MS Partner). MS partners may come from academia, industry or clinics. EIPODs are based at an EMBL lab. Those with an MS partner spend between 3 months and 1 year of their 3 year fellowship in the MS partner lab.

Duration

EIPOD fellowships are awarded for a period of 3 years. The positions come with generous health care benefits and pension access.

Eligibility

The EIPOD fellowship programme is open to all nationalities, with the criteria being scientific excellence and interdisciplinarity. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree at the call deadline. Applicants who have successfully defended their Ph.D. but have not yet been awarded the degree are also eligible.  Prior affiliation with EMBL, and if relevant an MS partner, can not exceed 12 months in the last 3 years prior to the submission deadline.
