Description
Daniel La Parra, Institute of Social Development and Peace, welcomes expressions of interest from Postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record of research and publication to apply jointly to the European Commission Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme in 2026 (MSCA-PF-2026).
Institute of Social Development and Peace, our research group on health inequity, gender violence and public health is made up of a multidisciplinary team of specialists in public health, sociology, psychology, pedagogy, anthropology, among other areas of social sciences and health sciences. We carry out projects on gender violence, ethnic and gender inequalities in health or other social factors with an influence on public health financed with national and European funds. Among our lines, it is worth highlighting the studies focused on adolescence, the young population, immigrant women and those belonging to ethnic minorities (mainly the Roma), as well as the determinants of access to socio-health resources related to gender violence.
Have a look at our publications here.
THE PROJECT
The general aim of the research team is to contribute to the understanding of social inequalities in health, in general, and gender violence with an intersectional lens; that is, making visible the specific and unique experiences of various population groups, especially those living in conditions of social vulnerability (ethnic minorities, immigrant population, adolescent population, young people, elderly, disability, among others). The specific goals are:
1) Identify various sources of information (statistical records and surveys, but also press reports, court rulings, digital data, etc.) that allow studies on gender violence and other social inequalities in health with an intersectional approach
2) Implement different types of quantitative and qualitative methodologies (such as participatory action research) for the study of gender violence and other social inequalities in health, integrating the experience of various groups of women (and the rest of the population when relevant) in which different axes of inequality interact (age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, immigration status, and others).
3) Explore various communication strategies, based on data visualization, to improve the communication of research results in academic activities (publications, congresses, etc.) and in communication channels towards the administration and the general population (reports, websites, social networks, etc.).
