Description
MSCA PF Candidate for Global Fellowship: Aldo Alfonso Vasquez-Bonilla
MSCA-PF 2026: Digital and Personalized Exercise Medicine Approaches for Musculoskeletal Health and …
Aldo Alfonso Vasquez-Bonilla holds a PhD in Sport Sciences from the University of Extremadura with Cum Laude and International Doctorate distinctions. His expertise focuses on exercise physiology, muscle oxygenation monitoring (NIRS), sports performance and injury prevention. He has authored more than 50 publications in international journals and established collaborations across Europe and Latin America. He also contributes experience in scientific communication, mentoring, teamwork and international research collaboration.
Aldo Alfonso Vasquez-Bonilla has demonstrated scientific independence through participation in national and international projects on sports performance, hypoxia-based training and physiological monitoring. He coordinated the Frontiers in Physiology Research Topic “Muscle Oxygenation and Vascular Adaptations in Sports Performance and Rehabilitation” and currently leads a collaborative research group on altitude effects in football. He also has international teaching and mentoring experience in exercise physiology, training and injury prevention across Europe and Latin America.
Project Idea:
Topic: Osteoarthritis, healthy ageing
Discipline: Sport sciences and rehabilitation
Scientific requirements: Physiological monitoring, AI, exercise prescription
Tittle: Digital and Personalized Exercise Medicine Approaches for Musculoskeletal Health and Healthy Ageing
Osteoarthritis is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders in Europe and Spain, affecting approximately 29% of the Spanish adult population and significantly impacting physical function, mobility, chronic pain, and quality of life, particularly in ageing populations. The proposed research project aims to develop and evaluate personalized strength-based exercise interventions for improving musculoskeletal health, physical function, and quality of life in ageing populations and individuals with osteoarthritis.
The project will investigate how individualized exercise prescription, supported by advanced physiological monitoring technologies, can optimize adaptations to exercise and improve symptoms caused by osteoarthritis. The intervention will integrate innovative tools such as cardiovascular assessment, thermography, and wearable devices to evaluate physiological responses and optimize individualized exercise prescriptions based on each participant's clinical needs.
