What to Expect
CoARA in Practice – Polish Chapter Experiences
Prof. Alicja Józkowicz from Jagiellonian University will share how the Polish Chapter of CoARA is putting the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment principles into practice. She will discuss real experiences from recruitment processes, highlighting both the challenges faced and the successes achieved in aligning with research assessment reform.

Multilingualism and Mobility – Insights from MCAA
Dr Gian Maria Greco, representing the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) and Co-Chair of the CoARA Working Group on Multilingualism, will share findings from the recent survey on multilingualism in research assessment. He will also present preliminary results from the MCAA research assessment survey, which gathers evidence on how research and researchers are assessed within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Be among the first to hear these insights and discover emerging trends across Europe.

Holistic Academic Career Assessment Reform – NOR-CAM: The Norwegian Experience
Ragnar Lie (Universities Norway) will introduce the Norwegian Competence Assessment Model (NOR-CAM) and explain how this framework is being implemented across higher education institutions in Norway, driving holistic career assessment reform in practice.

Plenary speakers

Prof. Alicja Józkowicz Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland
Alicja Józkowicz, is a Professor in Biological Sciences at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. Her research focuses on angiogenesis, endothelial cell biology, hematopoietic niche, and heme-dependent signaling. She has completed postdoctoral fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston) and the Medical University of Vienna, and is co-author of over 200 scientific publications cited more than 11,000 times. Alicja serves as a reviewer and panelist for numerous national and international research agencies, including the European Research Council, and is a member of CoARA Chapter Poland, contributing to initiatives that promote responsible research assessment and academic career development.

Dr. Gian Maria Greco, MSCAA, Italy
Dr. Gian Maria Greco, is Chair of the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Macerata, Italy. His work focuses on accessibility, diversity, and inclusive research practices, with expertise in media accessibility and human rights. He has held academic positions at institutions including the University of Oxford, University of Warsaw, and Autonomous University of Barcelona, and co-leads initiatives such as ResearchAbility for researchers with disabilities. Gian Maria also serves as co-chair of the CoARA Working Group on multilingualism and language bias in research assessment, contributing to European and international policy development.

Ragnar Lie, Universities Norway
Ragnar Lie is Senior Advisor at Universities Norway, the Norwegian “rectors conference”, working with topics like research policies, open science, research support, career policies, leadership development and research security. He is coordinator for the CoARA National Chapter in Norway, and is facilitating the implementation of NOR-CAM among Norwegian Higher Education Institutions. He has worked in the higher educational sector for more than 30 years; first at The Research Council of Norway, then at University of Oslo, and, since 2011, at Universities Norway. He holds a degree in Political Science from Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen.
